Maintenance and Care
BuderBoard™ Maintenance and Care Policy
This Maintenance and Care Policy applies to all cutting boards manufactured and sold under the BuderBoard™ brand (“BuderBoard” or “Board”). The term “BuderBoard” is used throughout this document to ensure clarity and consistency when referencing our products.
BuderBoards are crafted from natural materials and are intended to provide long-term performance when properly maintained. Adherence to the following guidelines is essential to preserve structural integrity, appearance, and food safety.
Proper Cleaning
After each use, the BuderBoard should be cleaned promptly using warm water, mild dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue and dry immediately with a clean towel. Allowing moisture to remain on the surface may contribute to warping, cracking, or bacterial growth.
The Board must not be submerged in water, soaked for extended periods, or exposed to running water longer than necessary for cleaning. Additionally, BuderBoards are not dishwasher safe. The heat, prolonged moisture, and aggressive detergents associated with dishwashers can cause irreversible damage.
For deeper sanitation when needed, a diluted vinegar solution or food-safe sanitizer may be used sparingly, followed by thorough drying.
Oiling and Surface Conditioning
To maintain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of the BuderBoard, it is recommended that the Board be conditioned with a food-grade mineral oil or an approved cutting board conditioner approximately once per month, or more frequently in dry climates. Regular oiling helps prevent moisture absorption, reduces the likelihood of cracking, and preserves the natural finish.
Apply oil evenly across all surfaces, allow it to absorb fully, and wipe away any excess before storage.
Storage Requirements
BuderBoards should be stored in a cool, dry environment away from direct heat sources such as ovens, stovetops, or prolonged sunlight. Whenever possible, store the Board upright or in a manner that allows for adequate air circulation on all sides. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the Board, as prolonged pressure may lead to distortion.
General Use Considerations
Because BuderBoards are produced from natural wood, minor variations in color, grain, and texture are normal and are not considered defects. Proper care significantly reduces the risk of splitting or warping; however, wood remains a responsive material that reacts to environmental conditions.
Failure to follow the maintenance practices outlined in this policy may shorten the usable life of the Board and can result in damage that is not attributable to manufacturing quality.
By purchasing and using a BuderBoard, you acknowledge responsibility for adhering to these care guidelines to ensure the highest level of safety, durability, and performance.
